Comprehensive and Professional Training Starting With Your Instructor, Debra Meyer

Your instructor, Debra Meyer, a professional stager, has years of professional design, staging and teaching experience. She has started her business and has grown it to be the largest family owned staging firm in the State of Wisconsin. Debra knows what it takes to thrive in this field and will guide you towards your own successful home staging firm. Debra will review your work personally and provide you with valuable feedback and advice. She is available to you by telephone and by email, and will act as your personal mentor and guide to the staging industry. Or if you are doing the inhouse classes she will be your sole instructor.

The LHS® certification course, whether taken on site or online, is not like any other home staging training program available. It offers you an insight to what the industry really wants from the home stager. Not the staging from yesterday, but the real staging the home buyers are craving. The stagers today need to understand not just HOW to make the property genuinely appealing, but the PSYCHOLOGY OF WHY we do what we do. Any program can give you outlines of how to stage, but to understand WHY we stage the way we do, and to answer the questions from our clients on why we DID what we did, is another thing. YOU WILL LEARN AND UNDERSTAND THE INDUSTRY. This is an invaluable tool.

You will have the option for on-site training or the convenience of studying on your own time and at your own pace. We will provide you with a professional, comprehensive, and practical learning experience from a Successful Home Stager, Real Estate Broker and Interior Decorator's Viewpoint. Debra is the only instructor who is All Three; the three aspects of Home Staging that are needed to fully Understand the Industry in its entirety.

The course lessons and instructional guides give you all the information you need about home staging and interior remix philosophies. Interior Design Remix is the main foundation of home staging. In order to most effectively serve your clients, you'll need to know how stage their homes by primarily using their existing furniture and accessories. Rather than giving you tricks and tips on filling and fluffing, we'll teach you to assess rooms and their contents from an Interior Designer's perspective and make the most effective staging decisions possible. Your Interior Design Remix training also gives you another valuable service you can offer to your clients once out in the marketplace. You'll be more marketable and be able to take on more contracts with this secondary certification.

Our licensed program in Home Staging includes a whole series of practical, hands-on exercises and skill-sets. These assignments are designed to help you develop your professional skills and to prepare you for the work you'll be doing and the questions you are asked when you start your professional career in Home Staging and Interior Design Remix.

With each lesson topic, you'll be asked to complete several exercises. This immediately reinforces the concepts you learned and to help you develop your professional skills and potential. Some of the assignments include identifying the contents of a room and evaluation of the items that need to be removed for staging. Working with furniture, window treatments, lighting, and accessories to stage each room in the home to its best advantage is another element of the course, along with the mixing paint colors to show your understanding of color theory and psychology of color choice. Understanding measurements in a room in your home and creating a scaled floor-plan of the space and analyzing and changing floor-plans to show your space planning skills are course topics and improving curb appeal to make the best first impression with potential buyers rounds out the education.

The business components of the course also include practical exercises to develop a plan for setting up your company and marketing your professional services. You'll also be taught to setting up customer contracts and developing your pricing structure. The program includes consultation report templates for both occupied and vacant homes that you can use in your professional work. We do not simply fill the report out as your tour the property and leave it with your clients at the end of the consultation, Staging takes more than this. We will skillfully assess the property, photograph it and compile a documented report to remit to our clients.

The program includes a comprehensive business series of elements. You'll learn how to set up your business, market your services, and work with clients and real estate agents. You may also find that you want to become a real estate agent as well. We'll show you how to set your rates, prepare your individualized contracts and invoices, and conduct in-home consultations and quotes. The course includes a collection of customizable templates and forms that you can use in your professional work. We will also get you set up with your website, and domain, your marketing materials and business cards. We'll show you how the home staging process works, what you're responsible for, and how to work with contractors and other professionals. All your questions about starting and running a home staging business will be answered and you'll gain the confidence you need to succeed.

In your final project, you'll choose a property to work with—either your own home or a friend's home—and you'll stage one room from start to finish. This exercise pulls together all the knowledge you've developed over the course of your studies and gives you the opportunity to put your new skills to work. You'll take before and after photos of your project which you can add to your professional portfolio. You'll also be asked to assess the curb appeal of the property you're working on and make recommendations on how to improve it. Staging is an art, and you will full understand its rules and be able to create a viable Home Staging firm upon completion of this course.
